An independent audit of your website or app against EN 301 549 — with a discrepancy report and a ready-to-publish accessibility statement.
A digital accessibility audit is an independent assessment of how well a website or app complies with EN 301 549, the European accessibility standard referenced in Latvia's Law on Accessibility of Goods and Services. You get a compliance score, a full inventory of the deficiencies found, and a prioritized list of fixes ranked by user impact.
How is an accessibility audit carried out?
Most audits cover around 10 representative views — the templates and page types that account for most of a site's or app's interactivity and content. Scope can be expanded for larger or more complex products.
Testing follows the Accessibility Conformance Testing (ACT) methodology, combining automated scans with manual expert testing. Each view is checked against 50 individual accessibility requirements.
You receive a report with screenshots, plain-language explanations of each issue, and an impact rating — so your team can prioritize fixes by user impact rather than working through the list in an arbitrary order.
Alongside the report, you get a compliant accessibility statement ready to publish on your website or app, satisfying the disclosure requirement under EN 301 549.
Process
What does it cost, and how long does it take?
Pricing depends on the number of views audited and the complexity of the interactions being tested. As a guide, a standard 10-view audit typically runs [€X–€Y] and takes [X–Y weeks] from kickoff to final report. Larger or multi-language products are scoped individually.
The audit helped us understand shortcomings we already suspected existed and, of course, revealed others we were hearing about for the first time. It involved a lot of work, but Balcia always keeps its customers in mind.
