Last week, the 13th season of "Vārds dizainam" (A Word on Design) kicked off with the "Jaunie dizainā" (New Voices in Design) event, organized by the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in collaboration with the Art Academy of Latvia’s Department of Design.
At the event, emerging designers Ilze Lankovska, Katrīna Bināte, Daniels Treimanis, Nikola Ulriha, Letīcija Orlova, Pāvels Žeļezņaks, and Uldis Sniķers presented their graduation projects.
The panel of experts included Mārcis Miķelsons-Germs (head of CUBE design department), who—alongside Agnese Narņicka and Elīna Brasliņa—commented on the designers' work, asked questions, and shared professional insights.
The event was hosted by Elza Elīza Ilješāne, Education Program Curator at the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, and Matīss Zvaigzne, Head of the Department of Design at the Art Academy of Latvia.
Thank you to the organizers for the invitation and the opportunity to be part of this conversation, and to the emerging designers for their bold ideas, thoughtful work, and openness to discussion.
It was a pleasure to be present where the next generation of Latvian design is taking shape.
